JustDiggit digs Water Bunds for a green landscape restoration
Water bunds are crescent-shaped holes – also called “earth smiles” – in the ground that collect rainwater.
We dig them in our project areas in Africa because rainwater would otherwise wash away over the dry, bare ground after a heavy downpour. By digging water bunds, we allow the water to seep into the ground. This way, we can green large areas in a very short time, which has significant benefits for the ecosystems, biodiversity, and residents of the area. And it also cools our entire climate!
